DSI Helps Bis Industries Reduce Time to Prepare Scope of Work by 60%

Melbourne, Australia; Kansas City, Mo. – DSI announced today that the Bis Industries Underground division has reduced the time to prepare a scope of work by 60% since deploying DSI’s Digital Supply Chain Platform™.

Bis Industries is a leading Australian provider of services to the minerals and resources industries. The company’s underground mining division implemented DSI’s Digital Supply Chain Platform (DSCP)™ to create a mobile app that streamlines the equipment hiring process. The division eliminated manual processing and double handling with a mobile app deployed on tablets to perform mining equipment inspections. Using the app, Bis personnel can compare before and after hire pictures and asset inspection details to make resolving recharge issues more efficient.

The app not only shortens lead times to move assets through workshops and back on hire, but also increases end-to-end supply chain visibility. Asset maintenance, suppliers and customers utilize the output from the DSI solution. The DSCP’s prebuilt integration with Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne enables Bis personnel to create a work order at the time a customer signs off on repairs on the tablet. As a result, the app has decreased the time taken to provide a damage claim to the customer.

“As there is no manual process to input recorded data, personnel are now able to spend time looking at machines and resolving mechanical issues instead of sitting in front of a computer,” said a Bis Industries representative. “Admin personnel are no longer inputting into JDE from a spreadsheet as this now occurs automatically through the DSI solution.”

With the flexibility of the Digital Supply Chain Platform, Bis Industries has created a mobile app that is fine-tuned to the company’s business processes and work environment. The app performs online or offline across multiple devices.

“Customers like Bis Industries turn to DSI for a mobile-first supply chain solution that drives efficiencies without interrupting their business processes,” said Matt McGraw, President and CEO of DSI. “The results Bis has achieved by automating the hire inspection process is just the first step in their digital supply chain journey.”
